How to Care for Acrylic Nails after a Manicure or Pedicure

Acrylic nails are fake nails that are applied to the natural nail to make it appear longer and stronger. Acrylics are popular because they last longer than natural nails and have a shine that can't be matched by any other type of nail enhancement.

The application of Short Acrylic Nails is a skill that takes time to master. If you're looking for tips on how to care for your acrylic nails after a manicure or pedicure, read on.

Clean the Nails

After you remove the old polish from your own nails, clean them with soap and water. This will help remove any residue left behind by the removal process. Then apply a nail polish remover-soaked cotton ball to each nail and allow it to sit for about 30 seconds before gently rubbing off the excess polish with another cotton ball dipped in polish remover solution. You may need to repeat this process several times until all of the old polish has been removed from each finger, including under your cuticles and at the base of your nails where the skin meets the nail bed.

Use a Quality Nail Polish Remover

When it comes to removing the polish from your acrylic nails, it is important that you use a quality nail polish remover. You should not use an acetone-based nail polish remover because these products can dry out your nails and cause them to break prematurely. Instead, look for an acetate-free nail polish remover that contains ingredients such as glycerin or lanolin. These ingredients are moisturizing agents that help keep your natural nail healthy while still providing the ability to remove all of the polish from your acrylic nails.

Use cuticle oil

Cuticle oil helps keep your cuticles healthy and prevent them from peeling back from the nail bed. It also keeps your nails looking smooth and shiny. Use a drop of oil on each finger once a week after a shower or bath. The baddie simple coffin nails with rhinestones is a classic look. It's a bit more subdued than the rest of the manicures we've seen so far, but it's still fun and feminine.

Coffin nails are made by painting your nails with a base coat and then adding two coats of polish. Once that's dry, you'll want to add some rhinestones (preferably clear). You can either use loose rhinestones or glue them on using E6000 glue. The glue will dry clear, but the best part is that it will last forever — even if you remove your polish, the glue will still be there underneath!

Moisturize your hands every day. You can use hand lotion or cream every time you wash your hands to make sure they stay soft and smooth all day long.

Wear gloves

Wear gloves while doing any household chores that require you to use your hands or fingernails, such as cleaning dishes or scrubbing floors and walls. If you don't wear gloves while doing these activities, your nails could chip or break off prematurely due to excessive contact with harsh chemicals found in household cleaners and other products (like detergent).
