HTC launches Desire 828 and A9 in India

Today HTC has launched a new smartphone Desire 828 in India. It is the first handset in Desire-range to sport a rear camera with OIS (optical image stabilization).

The smartphone features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920p) IPS display and is powered by 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 SoC and 2GB RAM. The phone further offers 16GB internal storage and can hold microSD cards of up to 2TB.

It packs a 2,800mAh battery and sports 13MP rear camera with LED flash, OIS, BSI sensor and full-HD video recording, and 4MP secondary camera.
The smartphone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and supports 3G, 4G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth.

The company has not given any details about the pricing or availability of the smartphones yet but will announce them in the coming weeks.
The handset also packs HTC’s BoomSound technology along with Dolby Audio. While HTC has kept the price under wraps, it did mention that it will start shipping in the next two weeks, which is when it will reveal the pricing.

The Desire 828 uses the similar rear and front cameras that users will find inside the One A9. However, one big change is the lens cover. Unlike the A9 that has a sapphire lens cover on the rear camera, the Desire 828 uses a regular glass lens cover.
Support for microSD is provided in both the A9 and the Desire 828. Users can put in a microSD card with up to 2TB capacity in both phones
