Kent Alps+ : Premium class Air purifier that everyone can afford

Air Purifiers are now a essential part of our daily life . We got Kent Alps+ as a review device to test it.I would recommend you to try considering a few important features like digital controls, multiple fan speeds, auto mode, handles for easy mobility across different rooms and ozone free devices are to be considered while choosing an air purifier. Talking about a few technical aspects, it is good to look for CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate), the higher the CADR number, the more air it filters per minute for that particle size range, look for devices that are ozone free and with low noise levels.

All the air purifiers can remove fine particulate matter (PM 2.5), can run on auto mode option and are offered with a 12 month warranty even when bought online.

some of the essential features of Alps+ are :

Another unique feature of KENT Alps+ Air Purifier is its noise free operation. The air purifier makes less than 54 decibels noise making it convenient to use the air purifier. This feature makes it easy to use the air purifier in your kid’s room or when you are sleeping.

KENT Alps+ also comes with an inbuilt sensor and air quality indicator, which display the indoor air quality. The air purifier uses three different colors to indicate the air quality in a room. Blue indicates excellent air quality, pink indicates good air quality and red indicates poor air quality in a room.

One of the main features that makes KENT Alps+ Air purifier different is the presence of HEPA dust collection technology. HEPA filters present in the air purifier remove 99.97% particles present in the indoor air. The HEPA filters can trap pollutants that are less than 0.3 microns in size. The air purifier uses three stage mechanism of Impact, interception and diffusion to catch and trap the carcinogen agents present in the indoor air. These carcinogen agents, which mainly consist of dust mites, pollen, mold spores and pet dander have a high shelf life and lead a variety of health hazards.

One of the unique features of KENT Alps+ Air Purifier is its real time air quality monitor and also displays PM 2.5 in the indoor air. KENT Alps+ Air Purifier comes with an advanced laser scattering technique, which helps in detecting PM 2.5 in your home on a real time basis. The digital display screen on the air purifier indicates the density of PM 2.5 in the room.

If you are planning to buy an air purifier, consider a few things including the room size, the clean air delivery rate (CADR), air changes per hour (ACH) and the type of filter in the purifier, among other things. CADR is affected by room area and height. The CADR should ideally be two-thirds of the room size. So, for a room measuring 300-350 sq.ft., a CADR of 200-250 cubic metres an hour (m3/h) is preferable.

Higher the CADR, better the air filtration capacity of the air purifier. he type of filter is yet another important factor - a HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) filter can filter up to 99.9 per cent airborne particles of upto 0.3 microns in size; activated carbon in combination with a HEPA filter can remove odours, too. Also consider the operating cost, which is the cost of replacing the filter at the time of the purchase.

As air purifiers are available at different price points, we have categorised them in different price categories, making it easier for you to choose.

There’s similar vents towards the rear of the air purifier for filtered air to come out of the unit. A bunch of controls are placed at the top panel allowing you to switch the unit on or off, adjust the fan speed, switch on the ionizer and even set a timer for 2, 4 or 8 hours.

Below this on the front panel you’ll find a reasonably sized colour display that shows the current PM 2.5 levels. 6 colours have been assigned for varying PM 2.5 levels, which goes from Green (Excellent) to Violet (Serious). Overall the Design is very minimal, one thing worth mentioning is the ease of replacing the filter. Grooves on the side of the unit allow you to lift the front panel. Inside you’ll find the HEPA filter and the layer of pre-activated carbon that is responsible for air purification purposes.

The Kent ALPS Plus air purifier is rated at a clean air delivery rate (CADR) of 400 m3/hr. We found it to be very effective at processing air in a regular bedroom or even a decent sized living room. For larger rooms you’ll need either a bigger unit or two air purifiers working together.

  1. 6. IONIZER

  2. KENT Alps is the only air purifier among the ones I explored that comes with an inbuilt ionizer. An ionizer aims to release negative ions into the atmosphere which forces the pollutants to stick on the walls or other surfaces of the room. It improves the air quality and freshens up the room like anything. It also traps pollutants on its electrically charged collection plate to keep my room fresh.
    Low Noise Operation

One of my primary concern was noise. I already live in a bustling city and cannot afford the noise to sweep in my home. I have a young kid, and I don’t want the operation of product interfering with his study or sleep. KENT Alps is rated to work at as low as 54 decibels, which is an acceptable number.

There are other reasons why I chose KENT Alps, but more than that there are reasons why I wanted an air purifier. I can observe the short-term changes since I got the product. However, I am more concerned about its long-term effects, which I am sure will be positive.

There are 4 filters in the unit, the HEPA filter module is responsible for sanitizing air of PM2.5 particles, allergens and dust while the ionizer clears out foul smells, cigarette odour and more. A distinct filter placed ahead of the HEPA filter clears out physical pollutants like hair and debris.

    8. AIR FLOW

We were able to see significant improvements in air quality in about 15 minutes of switching on the air purifier. For a small to medium sized living room, this is as fast as most other purifiers available in the market. The Kent ALPS Plus gets a little loud at the Highest fan speed, which is generally in all.

Some Other AIR PURIFIERS which we tested along with this.
