Xiaomi Mi 5C to launch on December 6

Xiaomi might announce Mi 5C, the first smartphone powered by company's own Pinecone processor in China on December 6. The latest rumour around the launch date originates from Weibo, China's social media platform.

Xiaomi Mi 5C appeared in Geekbench listing few days back and the smartphone has already leaked in all its glory. According to Geekbench listing, Xiaomi Mi 5C houses a 1.4GHz octa-core processor and runs MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The device comes with 3GB RAM and 64GB storage. Earlier rumours indicated at Xiaomi Mi 5C getting an in-house developed octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz. If this turns out to be true, Xiaomi will joins the ranks of Apple, Samsung and Huawei when it comes to fabrication of home-grown processors.

Back in September 2015, Xiaomi had announced Mi 4C, the budget variant of its then flagship smartphone. The device came with 5-inch full HD display and had Snapdragon 808 under the hood.

Xiaomi recently announced plans for a global launch of a new product at CES 2017. While CES has generally not been a smartphone centric show, Xiaomi could well end up surprising everyone with a new device.

Is Xiaomi really developing its own processors? Will Xiaomi announce a budget version of Xiaomi Mi 5? Stay tuned  for more updates.
