Lenovo A6600, A6600 Plus and A7700 with 4G VoLTE support launched, prices start Rs 6,999

Lenovo has launched three new affordable smartphones in its A-series. The smartphones, A6600, A6600 Plus and A7700, come with 4G and VoLTE support and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Lenovo had a successful run with its A series of budget smartphones. According to IDC, 4G smartphones like the A6000, A7000 and A6000 Plus along with another popular budget smartphone, Lenovo K3 Note, helped the company grab a bigger share in the smartphone market last year. Now, the company is looking to reboot its budget 4G smartphone portfolio with the new A series smartphones. Ahead of the festival season in the country, Lenovo has launched three new smartphones under its A-series, the Lenovo A6600, A6600 Plus and A7700.

Targeted at the budget segment, these smartphones are priced at Rs 6,999, Rs 7,790 and Rs 8,540 respectively. The smartphones will be available via retail outlets across the country starting mid-September. The new Lenovo A series smartphones come with 4G and VoLTE support. The smartphones are available in matte white and black color options.

Lenovo says the new smartphones are compatible with Reliance Jio’s VoLTE services. Users can avail Jio’s Welcome Offer under which they can get unlimited voice calls, access to Jio’s suite of apps, and high speed 4G data up to 4G per day. The Welcome Offer is valid till December 31, 2016.

Lenovo A6600 and A6600 Plus specifications

The Lenovo A6600 and A6600 Plus come with similar set of specifications. The only difference between the two is that the A6600 comes with 1GB of RAM whereas the A6600 Plus comes with 2GB of RAM. Both smartphones are powered by 64-bit MediaTek 6735 quad-core processors. The smartphones come with 16GB internal storage and are expandable up to 32GB via microSD. The Lenovo A6600 and A6600 Plus sport a 5-inch HD display.



For photography, the smartphones come with 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and autofocus. The smartphones also come with 2-megapixel front facing camera. The smartphones come with a 2,300mAh battery. Connectivity options include dual-SIM support, 4G, VoLTE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to name a few. Both the smartphones run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.

The Lenovo A6600 and A6600 Plus will compete against the likes of Reliance Digital LYF Wind 7 and Xiaomi Redmi 3S, which are priced at Rs 6,999. The LYF Wind 7 also comes with 5-inch HD display. It runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 210 quad-core processor along with 2GB of RAM. It comes with 16GB of onboard storage, and is expandable up to 128GB. The Lenovo A660 misses out on the expandable storage. For photography, the Wind 7 has 8-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front camera. The Xiaomi Redmi 3s comes 5-inch HD display. It is powered by Snapdragon 430 processor along with 2GB of RAM. It has 16GB of onboard storage, expandable up to 128GB. The Xiaomi Redmi 3S however edges out the competition with a large 4,000mAh battery.

Lenovo A7700 specifications

The Lenovo A7700 comes with a relatively larg display than the A6600 series. The A7700 comes with a 5.5-inch HD display. It is powered by 64-bit 1GHz MediaTek 6735p quad-core processor along with 1 GB of RAM. It is also equipped with 16GB of onboard storage, which can be further expanded via microSD card.

On the camera front, the smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel rear facing camera with dual-LED flash and a 2-megapixel front camera. On the connectivity front, the smartphone comes with 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The smartphone comes equipped with a 2,900mAh battery. The smartphone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. The smartphone also comes with twin rear speakers which are powered by Waves Maxxaudio.

The Lenovo A7700 the smartphone will face a neck-to-neck competition from the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime and the Coolpad Note 3 Plus.

Xiaomi’s Redmi 3S Prime may cost Rs 500 more, but it does offer value for money features. It comes with a full-metal body, the smartphone features a 5-inch HD display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, microSD card slot, 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front facing camera, dual-SIM, 4G, VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1 and Wi-Fi. Its advantages over the Lenovo A7700 include a fingerprint scanner at the back, and a massive 4,100mAh battery.

The Coolpad Note 3 Plus is also priced at Rs 8,999. The smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display. It is powered by Mediatek 6753 Octa-Core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and 3 GB of RAM. It comes with 3,000 mAh battery and also supports 4G and fingerprint scanner.
